Where should I volunteer my time?

If you have ever asked yourself this question, you are certainly not alone!  Many wishing to volunteer really have no idea where to begin.
My suggestions:
1.  What interests you most?
You will only be a great volunteer if you spend your time on something that you really enjoy. Please look into what you are volunteering for before you jump into the task.
2.  How much time do you really have to give?
No one can give 100% to volunteering because let's be honest; a person only has 100%.  Think about realistically how much time you can give.
3.  What do you want to get out of your volunteerism?
Know what you are looking for before signing up.  Do you want a good feeling following your volunteer experience to continue by being able to actually see what you did?  Then find something that is physically tangible; i.e. building something, painting something, etc.  If you are fulfilled with only having the idea that what you did helping those in need; find a "behind the scenes" volunteer opportunity.  This is one that you may never truly know how you impacted, but know that you tried.

How do you find a volunteer opportunity?
Well, I can help with that!
Please visit the Ada Regional United Way website at www.adaunitedway.org click on the volunteer box at the top of the home page and view the opportunities.  These may be displayed as detailed opportunities or they may be very vague.  Either way, if the description peaks your interest, please express your interest.  This online volunteer site will connect to my e-mail account and I will follow up with more details for you.

How will you know what is best for your time?
Only you know that answer to that question.  However, if you don't even begin a search, how will you make this decision?

Get involved, volunteer!
